i-Fix Surgical instrumentation
Osseotouch
magnetic mallet.
Drill-free oral surgery using Magnetodynamics technology — bone is condensed and shaped, not removed. No heat, no irrigation, four selectable force levels. Available through i-Fix.
Surgical instrumentation
Magnetodynamics
Because bone is displaced rather than cut, the axis stays correctable mid-procedure and the field stays dry — the biological factors that support osseointegration are not irrigated away.
CE-marked medical device. Manufactured by Meta Ergonomica Srl, distributed internationally as Osseotouch. Available through i-Fix.
03 Why drill-free
Key advantages.
The device displaces and condenses trabecular bone rather than cutting it away — every millimetre of native bone at the site is preserved.
The 80-microsecond impulse generates no friction or heat, so no irrigation is needed. The field stays dry and visible, and the biological factors that support osseointegration are not washed away.
Condenses D3–D4 quality bone toward D1–D2 density. Published data shows an average insertion torque of 70 Ncm at magnetic-mallet sites versus 35 Ncm with burs in matched bone.
Four selectable force levels with 1 mm progression per strike — the operator keeps full directional and intensity control, and can correct axis mid-procedure since bone is displaced, not cut.
Patients perceive only noise. A systematic review across 619 extractions and 880 implants recorded zero cases of BPPV (vertigo) versus 7 with a manual mallet.
04 Clinical applications
Applications.
- Atraumatic extractions — luxation without bone loss, socket preserved for immediate implant placement
- Maxillary sinus lift — crestal approach with vital bone displacement, often without added biomaterial
- Split crest / ridge expansion — atrophic ridge widening with simultaneous implant placement
- Implant site preparation — osteotomy without bone removal, axis correctable mid-procedure
- All-on-4 / All-on-6 — full osteotomy without burs; higher insertion torque supports immediate loading
- Crown and bridge removal — controlled removal in 1–2 strikes without damaging abutments

07 Published evidence
Published evidence.
Materials (MDPI), Exploration of Medicine and the Journal of Personalized Medicine — histology, accuracy against burs, and a systematic review of 14 studies.
First biomolecular, histological, clinical and radiological study of the technique — reported significantly more newly-formed bone and osteoblasts, and up to 6× higher BMP-4 (osteogenic protein), at magnetic-mallet sites.
Compared magnetic-mallet preparation against burs on accuracy, bone loss and temperature — significantly better on all three (P < 0.01).
Systematic review of 14 studies, 619 extractions and 880 implants — zero cases of BPPV (vertigo) in the magnetic-mallet group versus 7 with a manual mallet.
